If you train well, there should be three components to every exercise that you do:
1- Improve your fighting skill
2- Gain more understanding of yourself and circumstances
3- Enhance the health of yourself and your partners
As Vladimir Vasiliev will explain at the Mastering Systema Seminar, unique and specific to Systema, this happens in every element we practice, be it breathwork, strikes, knife disarming, etc.
Take a simple pushup, for example:
1- The correct method of pushing yourself off the floor is a perfect preparation for delivering strikes, while accurate positioning of going down towards the ground is an excellent preparation for wrestling.
2- Systema pushups with breathwork and fatigue-control make you understand your own ideal positioning, timing and conditions for power.
3- Proper pushups lead to self diagnosis such as seeing the tensions in your body, muscle imbalance or deviations in the spine. And also most importantly, the ways to remedy that.
